Can-Do Child® activity cards

my day

Picture my Day

A relaxing activity to help open up a conversation with your child about their day. It is particularly good for helping young children think about the act of remembering and then sharing information, developing their self-confidence and social skills.

If asking your child how their day received little or no response, try this activity and discover how the conversation can open up.

Take a sheet of A4 paper and draw a line horizontally or vertically to separate yours and your child’s day. You start by drawing something about your day in your space, then encourage your child to draw something about their day in their space.

This is a relaxing activity, helping young children think about the act of remembering and then sharing information. It is especially helpful with children who may yet lack the words to describe what they feel and perceive.

Tip: You may well find your child naturally starts talking about what they’re drawing anyway, but if not, spend some time reflecting on your respective pictures.
